This year was another good one for Benjamin, and we celebrated his big #7 by letting him call the shots on food, activities, and cake. Since the actual birthday was today on Sunday, we got to have two parties and stretch it out a little longer. Saturday was Chuck E. Cheese, which like many families, has become a tradition with both our boys. He also got a new bike yesterday, too, because that wouldn't be as fun to get on Sunday, when he wouldn't even get to ride it till Monday AFTER school. Argh! So today was low key but fun, with his favorite meal of Greek Macaroni with corn, followed by an angel food cake with a whip cream frosting and topped with strawberries and kiwi. He wanted seven trick candles on it, which proved to be a challenge! His presents came next, but perhaps the biggest surprise came right before bed, when he lost his top right tooth! It seemed to be too tight at first, but it gave way easily, and when it happened, he didn't even realize it was out!
We love Benj, we're so glad he's in our family. He's always had a great sense of humor, from the time he was six weeks old and laughed when we snapped his blanket in the air. He has a cackle that he inherited from his Grandma that is so contagious. My favorite thing about Benj is how helpful he likes to be. Now we're not talking about how helpful he actually is, or how often disaster strikes at his hand, but you can't blame a kid who likes to try. He is my best helper in the kitchen. He dons his apron and I don mine and we make pizza and pasta and more. His specialties range from browning ground beef to kneading dough. Benji, we love you, you nutty, fun-loving, helpful boy!

Looks like fun. Happy Birthday Benj. I thought he was older than 7 somehow. You have some serious cooking skills. You really need to live closer so some of that can rub off.
Benj, Happy birthday. It looks like you had lots of fun. It is 7 in the morning on Wednesday and Grandma and I are getting ready to go to a zone conference. I have not eaten breakfast yet and the pizza looks really great. Tim and Scott used to love to go there on there birthday when we live in Huntsville, it is a cool place. You look real happy to have lost that tooth, it is good when they come out easy. If you have some loose when I come home I will pull them out for you, OK? Love your pictures. Michele, could you Email us a copy of the new family picture that is on the blog. I tried to download it but it is very grainy when we print it out. Thanks. Wow, you weather looks great, we are a bit jealous, the last few weeks it has been in the hight 20's and low 30's for high temperatures. No appreciable snow but pretty cold. We love you lots, Grandma and Grandpa from Korea.
