Emily was excited this week to be able to plan, prepare, and host her own activity for a group of 10 or so Primary girls ages 8-12, the Activity Days Girls. They always learn something useful for their lives, both temporal and spiritual, and there's almost always treats or games. And, of course, they work toward accomplishing what is needed for their Faith in God award. For the past several months, the girls have taken turns hosting their own activity that they planned or helped to plan. Emily wanted to use the theme of Lehi's Dream of the Tree of Life. So for the past week, she and I had a great time thinking of this fun game about it. It was based on the idea of Candy Land, but with all different spots for getting stuck or jumping ahead. If you got stuck, there was a scripture to read about it. The girls had a blast, partenering up because there was so many of them. It was fun to see who would taste of Eternal Life first. Then we headed to the kitchen where the girls decorated their own Trees of Life sugar cookies, complete with green and brown (peanut butter) frosting and white chocolate chips for the fruit of the tree.
Joshie had one later and said, "Tasting this fruit is making me happy because it's so delicious!" He giggled like he does when he knows he's said something clever that he thinks I'll like. I guess he was listening in FHE when we did the dry run!

Emily; What a great looking game and such a super idea. We would love to play that with you when we come to visit after our mission. We are so impressed with your talents and how you and your mom worked together on this. It sounds like it was lots of fun. It also looks like the cookies were wonderful. They sure do look nice. OK--can we copy your ideas for our FHE? What a fun game & treat for teaching one of my favorite parts of the Book of Mormon.
what a great idea!! From so many angles, this is awesome. I want to pass it on to the Achievment Day leaders in my ward. I love that the gals are learning leadership and that they are learning from the scriptures. Bravo!! Good job Emily!!
